Promotable Public Servant:
Executive coaching for APS6–EL2 public servants
Navigate the transition from strong performer to promotable candidate.
The Promotable Public Servant program is an individual coaching experience for APS6-EL2 professionals preparing for their next role. It supports people who are doing strong work but want to be more strategic about how they are positioned, how they are seen, and how they move into the next stage of their career.
This program is designed for the transition point between current performance and future readiness, where the biggest shift is not just in capability, but in perception and positioning.

About the Promotable Public Servant coaching program
Many public servants are delivering consistently, meeting expectations, and contributing at a high level. Yet they often feel unsure about how to translate that performance into promotion readiness, or how to navigate the transition from valued contributor to natural next‑level candidate.
The Promotable Public Servant program sits in that space.
It supports individuals to clarify their promotion narrative, strengthen how they talk about their value, and better understand the factors that shape promotion decisions in the APS. The focus is less on generic “promotion tips” and more on tailored, strategic positioning that aligns with each person’s context and goals.
This is individual coaching that helps people move from strong performance in their current role to being clearly recognised as ready for what comes next.
Who the Promotable Public Servant program is for
This program is designed for APS6-EL2 public servants who are:
-
In a transition stage and preparing for advancement.
-
Looking to understand how promotion decisions are made in their organisation.
-
Seeking a structured, personalised approach to promotion readiness.
-
Technically capable and reliable, but want to step more deliberately into the expectations of the next level.

What you’ll explore in Promotable Public Servant coaching
Across the program you’ll work on both the visible skills (writing, interviewing, evidence) and the less visible but powerful elements that shape promotion decisions:
-
Getting clear on your next level
Clarify what “promotable” means for you at your next level and map your strengths and development areas against APS capability frameworks.
-
Building your evidence bank
Turn your experience into crisp, evidence‑based examples aligned with APS expectations, and build a reusable repository you can draw on again and again.
-
Strategic visibility and relationships
Understand how to build relationships with key decision‑makers, sponsors, and referees, and how to show up in conversations that matter.
-
Positioning for the process
Learn how panels and executives think about short‑lists and selections, and how you can position yourself before, during, and beyond formal recruitment processes.
-
Confidence in high‑stake conversations
Practice speaking authoritatively about your strengths, career goals, and readiness for the next level, in interviews, performance discussions, and informal chats.
-
Your readiness roadmap
Leave with a clear, personalised action plan that sets you up as a promotable candidate over the next 6-12 months, including your next best step and how you’ll prepare for it.
Sessions are designed to build clarity, confidence, and a clear sense of direction, while remaining grounded in the APS environment and your specific context.

How the Promotable Public Servant coaching program works
The Promotable Public Servant program is delivered as individual coaching across six sessions. Each session is tailored to your goals, current role, and next‑level ambitions, with space for reflection, practical planning, and targeted conversations about your readiness.
Because promotion is not just about capability, it is also about timing, visibility, and how ready someone is perceived.
This program is designed to help public servants move from performing well in their current role to being clearly positioned as ready for what comes next.
